Managing the menopause

Every woman experiences menopause in her own unique way and every woman chooses her own path for managing symptoms. To find out more about common symptoms click here. Here are a few tips for coping with your symptoms:

  • Talk to your GP – find out how to get the best from your appointment  

  • Look into HRT

  • Take part in regular physical activity, including strengthening exercises such as yoga and pilates

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy for low mood and anxiety

  • Eat a healthy balanced diet

  • Identify and avoiding potential triggers of hot flushes and night sweats, such as spicy food, caffeine, smoking and alcohol

  • Practice mindfulness

  • Talk to your manager about the impact your symptoms are having on you

  • Join the Trust’s menopause staff network (details can be found on the staff network page on the intranet)
